I have discontinued organizing Motorcycle tours. For European tours, i suggest you contact www.mototouring.com
Tour dates will be June 10-18, departing morning of June 10 from Milan and returning to turn in bikes the morning of June 18. You would want to arrive in Milan on the 9th and return to US [or not and continue your own private tour] on 19th. This will be a tour of the Italian Alpine lake region, starting at Lake Maggiore then to Lake Lugano, Lake Como, Lake D'Iseo, and ending at Lake Garda. We do transit rides and loop rides, always staying at hotels two or more nights so we can do loop rides without our bags or take a day off from riding and be a tourist. There will be an opportunity to attack the infamous Passo Stelvio on a loop ride. There will be several ferry crossings plus opportunities to go into the Swiss Alps as they start at the tops of Lake Maggiore and Como. Exact transit/loop days and routes will be announced much later.
Step one – Now, commit to me via E-mail so I can let others go if you are not sure. I will be cutting this off at 6 riders plus me and right now we seem to be at 5 + me. There is always more demand than supply and this tour is only being announced today!
Step 2 - September, Rent a bike from Mototouring in Milano. I highly recommend a BMW F700GS [shorter riders] or F800GS [taller riders] but they do have other options. I promise if you rent a GS1200 or RT1200 you will struggle with parking and maneuvering in tight Italian towns. You will have to pay a 50% deposit upon renting. It’s important to rent in Sept-Oct as choice bikes do run out.
Step 3 – December, book and pay for flights. I’ll send you info on transfer from airport to the Agape Hotel, near Mototouring. We leave our bags at Mototouring during the tour.
Tolls, gas, meals- $600
Total $3900 for riders, less for pillions
*these tours used to be well over $4000 but the strong dollar and weak Euro is working in our advantage. Oddly enough, I have not seem BMW and Ducati bike prices drop here… mysterious!
